Online writing has become quite a successful venture with the advent of the Internet. With information more easily available, almost everyone take part in this lucrative business.

If you are a beginner, you might want to try setting up your own website. Better yet, you can also try hosting your own blog sites like blogspot. Here you can display your flair for writing and make some money while you are at it. Your revenue will be primarily from Google-based ads that are content related to what you're writing on.

There's also a host of other websites like Hubpages, Groundreport.com , Triond.com , and Associated Content that allow you to write regularly on the Net. Your income will depend on the traffic that you fetch. And you will be paid via Paypal.

Online news writing is another area that many writers are taking to. Websites that promote news content pay a hefty amount for you to convert news items on Internet and rephrase it into your own words. This enables websites to publish the content without having to worry about issues like plagiarism and duplicate content. One of the popular sources used for this style of writing include AP style, and there are a myriad of sources to choose from including Reuters, CNN, BBC, and MarketWatch.

It might also be feasible to select a niche area for writing news. An example of this is business writing, which can include reports or summaries of stock market news, international financial markets, and monetary policy issues.

The trouble with having your own website is that you will have to be responsible for everything on it, whereas if you are working for a firm that is publishing content, you will be working primarily as a writer. Nonetheless, since most of these firms are based in the U.S., the payment will be in dollars, and this can be quite exciting as conversion factor allows for a fatter paycheck. In fact, the monthly income derived from writing for one or more sites can be higher than working in a traditional office. And one can even build this line of work into a home-based business.

Online writing has a character of its own since readers on the Web tend to have less attention span than those who read novels or books. The Internet community demands information that is fast and reliable. So, most of the writing will be short articles. Nevertheless, if it's something interesting, you might be able to drive sufficient traffic to your article.
