This Is the Season That Women Boots Take Center Stage

The senior buyers and I have just spent six fabulous days in Milan, and it's probably going to take at least that amount of time again to unpack and sort through the unique purchases we made. We had to arrange for an entire shipping container, if you can believe it. Considering that one of those things will hold four cars, that's a whole lot of fashion steaming its way across the Atlantic and into our showroom. I'm not going to go into the experience of the trip itself. That's a whole feature worthy of a travel magazine: the hotel, the restaurants, the wine, the runways, the after parties. It was decadent and extreme and that's all I'm willing to say about it now. But trust me, if you ever get an invite to a fashion show in Milan, do not be trying to eBay that ticket, my friend. Anton snagged a number of deals for the men's wear department, including some white linen summer suits that are to die for and a whole collection of silk dress shirts. There was a unique designer called Umbagga that's marketing these funky black and brown leather kilts. Anton bought about thirty of those. It was a bit risky as something like that either sinks or swims; I bet him twenty bucks that he'd still have at least half of them left on the rack come Fall, but it's possible he'll sell out too. We all know when it comes to Milan, we're talking about women's fashions, though, and I pulled out all the stops this year. Cashmere sweaters, silk scarves and chunky knitted miniskirts are all going to fly off the shelves, especially the rainbow skirts. I also picked up a collection of hats. I think of them as faux Castro style, but I guess they're officially a copy of Cuban military, only much sexier. But for me, the big stars of this season are going to be the women's boots. I bought hundreds of pairs of the most unusual and unique footwear you'll see this year, with an emphasis on the coolest, trendiest boots you'll find this side of Soho. And we're the exclusive US distributor for many of these. If you want a pair, you're going to have to pop by for a visit, or find them online. Here's a teaser for you, just a sampling of what's waiting in the store: Potency black patent ankle boots, Qupid Neo purple distressed women's boots, Bertinni red women's boots, Yoki Porta mustard women's boot. And my personal pick, the Blossum Jaja grey women's boots in stretch material with a side zipper and 3.5" heels.
