I was totally desperate ' it was two days until prom, and I still didn't have a dress while my date had already rented his tux and was asking me about what kind of corsages I preferred! I had been totally wrapped up in some big tests at school and some friend drama ' you know, the typical everyday stuff that blows up into big stuff ' and I had totally procrastinated in finding the perfect dress for the big night. But I did end up finding a perfect dress, so for those of you who are in the situation that I was ' don't be desperate! Just take a deep breath, read on, and I'll tell you how I ended up succeeding in my search for dresses for prom. So at first, I just looked at really simple, elegant shapes ' you know, the ones that look like they've come out of Gone With The Wind or something or something that might look like it belongs to a classy ball. I saw that Atria had some very classic, simple cuts that were totally on budget too. Dave and Johnny seemed to have longs gowns with some cute heart shaped cuts in the front. If you're the type to go simple and clean, then this might be your thing ' however, I wanted to look further. My next step was to look for more fancy prom dresses that included things like ruffles and sashes and such. Some of the more elaborate ones weren't totally my personality, but there were some like ones by Jovani that incorporated cutouts in the middle of the bodice that I thought were unique and one-of-a-kind. The ruffles on the end of dresses by Interlude are really intricate and feminine, if you're the Scarlett O'Hara type. Terani Couture also had some cool ruffles running on the entire length of the skirt that would definitely have turned some eyes. I wasn't just looking for decorations though ' I knew I had to find the right shape for my figure. I started to look at more a-line shapes in my search for dresses for prom because I'm not that curvy, and I didn't think I could pull off the ones that were for hourglass figures. Turned out that lots of aline shapes had sashes in the middle that cinched right below the bust that made me actually look curvier than I was, so I was really satisfied! If you're like me, check out some of the designs from JCrew because they have alines that cut higher on the waist as I preferred and really elongate your body too. So in the end, I ended up going for a clean, a-line shaped cut that incorporated some ruffles in the end and had a sash right at the waist. After I got the dress, I knew I had to get the shoes too ' so don't forget this important part! A good tip to remember is to have your dress in hand as you try on different shoes; this way, you won't have to imagine how your shoes will pair with your dress because you will already have it on. So don't panic, take a deep breath, because there's no need to be desperate in dressing for prom! View more Women's dresses from Like.com Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
