Every
child is unique, with a personality all their own. Every
mother loves and cherishes the uniqueness of their children.
Birthstone rings are a beautiful way to showcase that uniqueness, to
simply hold up your hand and say "this is my son,
this is my daughter". A birthstone ring is a ring with the birthstones of your children set into it. They come in many different styles: you can have a ring for each of one your children, you can have stacking rings, thin rings that can be stacked four or five to a finger, or one ring with the birthstones of each of your children set into it. You can choose what metal you want the ring cast in, or weather the birthstones are real or simulated. The possibilities are unlimited. The perfect gift for any mother A birthstone ring is the perfect way for any child to express just how much they revere their mother. Each birthstone set in the ring symbolizes the uniqueness of every child in the family, with a wide range of birthstone colors. It is a treasured piece of family jewelry that she can cherish forever, and know that her children are always near. The history and lore of birthstone rings: Birthstone rings have a rich history in many cultures. Most scholars agree that the history and legend of birthstones originated in the Old Testament story of a garment worn by the high priest Aaron. Each stone represented one of the twelve tribes, one of the signs of the zodiac and also one of the months of the year. Over time, many of the birth stones have remained the same, with the same birth stone colors; some have changed slightly because their exact origins were unknown from the original text, and some have been interpreted to the proper minerals of those probably referred to in the in the original text. Birthstones include: Garnet (Jan): primitive cultures believed that garnet could smooth discord. Amethyst (Feb): ancients believed that amethyst would protect them from drunkenness. Aquamarine (Mar): aquamarine is said to offer the wearer foresight, courage, and happiness. Diamond (Apr): the word diamond comes from the Greek "adamas" meaning "unconquerable". Emerald (May): ancient Hindus and Persians believed that emeralds would offer the wearer the special protection of God. Alexandrite (June): alexandrite was named for the Czarevich Alexander II of Russia on the occasion of his coming of age. Ruby (July): the ruby is said to bring wisdom, happiness, and health, and symbolize success, devotion, and integrity. Peridot (Aug): the ancient Egyptians believed that peridot would ensure the wearer good luck, peace, and success. Sapphire (Sept): ancient Persians believed that the earth rested on a giant sapphire and that the sapphires reflection colored the sky. Tourmaline (Oct): tourmaline is thought to represent autumn because the colors of some are reminiscent of the turning of the leaves. Topaz (Nov): topaz comes from the Sanskrit "tapas" meaning "fire". The Greeks believed it could increase strength. Blue zircon (Dec): zircon, known to the ancients as hyacinth, provided the wearer with wisdom, honor, and riches. Where is the best place to purchase a birthstone ring? To get an idea of the different styles and prices that are available in birthstone rings it is more convenient to view them online before shopping around at local jewelry stores. Retail jewelers will sometimes carry a small selection of birthstone rings, but you are most apt to find them online. Just type " birthstone rings" into an Internet search engine like Google or Yahoo and you will find several reliable websites that specialize in birthstone rings. The cost of personalized birthstone rings is dependant upon the gemstones set into it. Most retailers and e-Commerce sites will allow you to order your ring with either simulated or genuine gemstones. In solid 14K yellow or white gold, a personalized ring with simulated gemstones should cost about $200 to $300. The same ring with genuine gemstones can range from $250 to $700, depending on the gemstones. Often the cost of genuine birthstones is not much more than simulated gemstones, it just depends on the months when the members of your family happen to have been born. For example, the birthstones for April (diamond), May (emerald) and September (sapphire) can add $100 or more each to the cost of the ring because these precious stones are much more rare and expensive than other birthstones. The importance of family The importance of family is undeniable. No matter what, family will always be there for us, will always stand by us. Family is the irreplaceable support structure of our lives. Birthstone rings are the perfect symbol of family. When you give your mother a birthstone ring you give her the gift of family.
