This natural looking strategy is perfect for Google and the like as they see this as healthy, progressive behaviour. One should be careful, however, not to over optimise as this can sometimes work against you and really make your site stand out for the wrong reasons. As long as content is added to regularly and there is a feeling of resourcefulness and stickyness on the site, Google will be attracted to you and you will be able to reap the rewards of a well developed and well optimised website.
