Search time for SEOs. |

Frustration, wonder and bemusement is the food and fuel of the rookie search engine optimizer. There are so much information freely available it is becoming common for individuals to consider themselves experts on the basis of what they have read. But when they get their hands dirty attempting to get a listing up the index the soul searching begins. There is nothing more disheartening than setting up a site expecting results and getting nothing for months. Well don't panic. To get a site to rank high now a days takes years - not months. Google will weight a site that has been round for a few years much higher than a site that has been recently created. There is nothing you can do but wait. Yes, wait and build content - regularly and gradually. In fact when google first indexes your site it can be very volatile, rising to a high position and then down, then up then down etc. I have cheerfully witnessed the amateur seo go from elation to depression like a yo-yo when first monitoring a sites progress. So it is the attitude that counts. One who sets up a site and expects instant results does not really know what they are doing. They think that seo is a quick fix, easy tweak that will bring home the business bacon. No my friends, it requires strategy and planning. You need a roadmap for the future of how you intend to develop the site. A professional SEO has the experience of doing it before. A balanced approach based on experience and know-how, keeping up to date and adapting to changes in web technologies. This, my friends, is not a hobby - it's an art!
