Link Building-Quality Versus Quantity
Article Submitted by: Julie Johnson

When you think of link building what usually comes to mind is building up the amount of links that you have. But that is not the answer. What is more important is having links of a certain quality. The problem about links is that most people will not do these themselves. Any company will normally hire someone to do the Search Engine Optimization for them and the links are a really big part of that. When you hire it out all you have to do is tell the SEO firm that you want so many links going to and from your site.

Links and backlinks are two very important ways to build up your web presence. Companies that think that this process is just about creating as many links as you can are missing the boat and should find a paid link site instead of a search engine optimization company for their over linking desires.

You need to do a few things for building links properly. One is to link your site with those other sites that are authoritative. These should be sites that can be related to yours in some way and they should have a good rank, at least better than yours. You also want to be sure that these are good, not spam, websites. It is important to have links that go through your whole website, but you have to remember that it is more important that you have fewer and better of these.

Search engine optimization will definitely include link building strategies but will integrate them with other things to create more attention from the search engine spiders. It is not just merely about slapping as many links as you can onto your pages. Think about those customers that you are drawing into your website. Do you really think that placing ten or twenty links per page will help them find what they are looking for? Definitely not.

The thing that will be most helpful for you to understand is that it is the building of effective links that you want more than anything. You want attention from the search engines but you also want your customers to be able to use your website. If there are tons of links and they are all over the site it is not only confusing but annoying to anyone that is trying to navigate through those. People can get lost if they got to your site and then get sent to another and another. It will definitely make them go elsewhere next time.
