Do you want to know how to create tough and competitive color catalogs for the winter holidays? Well, doing that is all about the right kind of catalog printing. You have to know the right materials to make your color catalogs last longer, and of course you also need to know the right kind of catalog printing features and designs that will make it competitive. In this guide, I will give you a few tips that should help you achieve just that.

1. Use tough outer covers - On the toughness side of things the best option is to make tough outer covers for catalogs. Color catalogs are booklets really and you can change the outer cover to a tougher material if you want. The best thing to do is to print catalogs with a cover paper that is thicker and with special coatings for moisture resistance. This basically acts as the shield of the catalog printing making sure the inside pages are more protected from weathering effects.

2. Use resistant paper stocks - On the inside pages, it also pays to be cautious and toughen them up as well. While you won't really need to waste money in thickening the paper of the inside pages of your catalog, it might be worth it to coat them for moisture resistance. I find that it is good to print catalogs with inside pages that are glossy for this purpose. Glossy paper finishes for catalog pages makes them quite moisture resistant, giving each page a longer life against water, snow and dirt.

3. Use tear away postcard order forms - Now, to make your catalogs more competitive over the winter holidays it is good to put a few good features on it. One of the best and most successful features I know are tear away postcard order forms. With postcards in between catalog pages, customers can easily see that ordering from the catalog is quite easy. So you will get more customers encouraged to order because ordering can be quite convenient.

4. Always add telephone and internet contact information - It is also important to always add contact information on your catalog. Telephone numbers for ordering, as well as Internet information about your website can help in encouraging people to order from you. So make sure your color catalogs have all the details necessary for convenient telephone or online transactions for sales.

5. Have a unique element - Finally, always try to have a unique element in your catalog prints. This will be the "memorable factor" that should make casual shoppers remember and order from your catalogs after reading it. Not everyone orders immediately and if you have that memorable factor people will turn to your catalogs first once they decide they are going to buy something.

Unique elements can be a nice design idea such as holes, glitter inks, holograms or even just an unusual color scheme. Just be creative and see how you can be distinct and different from your rival catalogs.

Great! That should help immensely in making your catalogs tougher and more competitive during the winter holidays. Try them out!
