In poster printing, or any other marketing collateral for that matter, the paper you use to print your message is a crucial factor that you have to consider. Not only will your design and message have the responsibility to generate leads for your business; but the paper stock you use plays a big role on the kind of impact you have with your target audience.

People generally expect high quality marketing materials from a professional company. The way you show your professionalism is evident on the durability, cost and impact of your message on your paper material. If your color poster printing for example looks like junk, then that's how your target audience will treat your print ad.

Nevertheless, for many business owners, the type of paper can be confusing. Depending on your purpose, the type of paper stock you need should complement the poster printing you have in mind.

To further help you to choose the right kind of paper stock for your color poster printing, here is some of the most popular stock and how you can apply them to your requirements:

Standard Paper. This type of paper is synonymous to bulk printing, not to mention cheap but still quality paper. With a shoestring budget, it's no surprise that you would want to work with the cheapest and yet workable poster printing paper in the market. If that's the case, then standard, uncoated paper with thickness of 20# is the kind you need. Although it may be cheapest in the market, this paper stock is shows a decent kind of material that is great for posters printed in bulk.

The downside though, is that it won't last long. So don't expect your posters to be durable if you expose them to the harshness of the environment. If you plan to use this kind of stock then be sure to place them in areas that are protected from the wear and tear provided by Nature.

High-Gloss Paper. This is the type that makes you look classy and elegant. The stock has special coating that makes it look shiny and polished. This is very appropriate if you're looking at engaging in marketing efforts that are high class and very fancy indeed. In addition, this kind of paper is resistant to dirt and smudge, hence they're good for marketing materials that will be exposed to simple physical damage.

The downside? Of course it is much more costly than the usual standard kind of paper.

Thick Paper Stock - 24# or 28#. Now, if you're looking at creating large poster printing then this type of paper stock with be your best bet. As large posters are usually more difficult to set up and they are posted far longer than the regular posters, thick paper with 24# or 28# can really help you achieve durability among your posters. And to make them more durable, be sure to add coatings so you can protect your poster printing from all sorts of environmental effects.

Plastic. Finally, if you want your posters to really last longer, then print them in plastic. Of course technically it's not paper, but it can be a viable alternative for many color poster printing. Plastic stock offers the ultimate protection and assurance of durability and longevity. So if you have money to spend on your marketing efforts, plastic posters will do you well more than any paper stock in the market.
