As another summer rolls around all those teenagers are going to be getting ready to start up their summer jobs to make money. If you have teenagers of your own you're likely going to be watching the process. Not all teenagers are going to prefer the normal routes of flipping burgers or ringing up sales at a retail store. Summer gives them a good chance to try out something new in the form of their own business, whether it be the basics like mowing lawns or washing cars, or something out of the ordinary like house sitting, pet sitting, or something more geared towards their personal skills. No matter what kind of business they decide to try out, this can be a perfect opportunity for them to learn some of the basics of marketing. The more creative they are the more likely they are to make more money and learn some valuable lessons for later on in life. Take the opportunity to teach them the kinds of practices larger companies use and how they can shape them to work well with a small business. Why not help them out with some flyer printing to advertise to the neighborhood what they're up to? Flyer printing is an inexpensive method of advertising that can gain them quite a bit of additional business if they're put up in the right places. Or you can go beyond the basics and do something more unique like booklet printing or even newsletter printing. Let's say your son or daughter is going to run something like a mini day care for the area. You can have them use booklet printing to list a schedule of when they can take people in and any activities they're daycare is going to have. People aren't going to be expecting something as professional looking as a booklet from a teenager running a business, and them having anything at all will increase the odds of business by impressing their customers. The same is true for newsletter printing. If they're going to offer multiple services, such as mowing lawns on some days and washing cars on others, why not print out a newsletter talking about what they've been doing and what they plan to do next. The more people get to know the teenager running this small business the more likely they are to come and give them business. People like to see kids learning about the world of business and learning to make money on their own. Granting them a better look at what your son or daughter is doing is a great way to help generate more sales. The earlier your children learn about great marketing strategies the better prepared they'll be to own a larger business some day down the line. Why not set up the skills now for them to succeed later on?
