Making Flyer Templates Work for You

You may think that you want a different advertising flyer every time you want to promote your business. But what about brand identity? If you keep changing your flyers for every event, no one will recognize it's you. If your store always has the same kind of sale every fall, why not make a template so that you reduce your future flyer printing costs by saving time on the design? If you have an event every quarter or every season, people will start to notice your , advertising flyers if you use the same flyer each time.

You can create your own template in Microsoft Word that works well with black-and-white or color flying printing. That way, you'll get two different looks from the same complete flyer design.

Or, you could use a template for just the basics. You can insert your company's name, address, Web site address and whatever other information you keep consistent on your flyers in your template, and then later go back and customize the template for each event. You can add different photos each time, and move the photos around, but keep the text in the same place.

Don't forget your logo. Not only do you need the text basics mentioned above, you also need to make sure that your logo is in the template. That's your company's identity, so you don't want to forget that! Your logo doesn't have to in a prominent position - you'll most likely want photos to dominate your flyer design, but keep that logo on there somewhere, and use colors in your photo and logo that complement each other so that neither is competing with the other.

You can also use templates from flyer printing companies if you aren't confident in your artistic talents. Some templates you can't customize, but those are for the people who generally don't care to anyway. In most cases you can customize the companies' templates to come up with a unique design for your company or product, or you can ask that the company come up with some template design ideas for you. One good thing about using a color flyer printing company is that they usually have a professional designer on board that can help you design or alter your template.

Make sure that your template is appropriate for your industry. There are many online companies with flyer templates that you can choose from that pertain to different industries. If you don't want a flyer that is too generic, then think about your company and what you want to impart to people that see your flyers. If you want to look regal and professional, choose a template that has muted colors and elegant design. If your company plans parties, then bring out the colorful templates and fun graphics! Just make sure whatever template you choose reflects your company or product.
