I hope that I don't really need to talk about how testimonials can help your business. These are some of the best means of developing trust in people and letting them know what a great job your company does. The problem I have is that testimonials aren't often used in the best way that they could be. The most common pairing I see is testimonials and color printing products. A company gets a brochure done that is designed to help tell people why they can be trusted, and to do so they load up advertising media with testimonials along with pictures of the people talking and a few facts about them. Posters also get a lot of testimonials on them, because this is a very visual kind of marketing, and so you increase the chances of someone seeing those testimonials. But I very rarely see them on postcards, which is very surprising to me, because combining testimonials with postcard printing seems like such an obvious move to me. The reasons why? The message that a postcard sends needs to be simple and right to the point. The more complex your message starts to get, the less likely it is that people are going to have interest in reading it. Well, the standard testimonial is a single quote with an image of the person who said the quote next to it, along with a small blurb about who they are. This seems to me like the perfect amount of information to place on the front of a postcard. The entire postcard now deals with your testimonial, and the quote itself can be what the selling point is in your postcard. If you want to emphasize great deals, just slap on a testimonial talking about how you have the best prices around. It sounds a whole lot better when it's coming from an outside source than when a company just compliments themselves. Another way to go about it is to have a monthly testimonial. Take a different customer each month and honor them by providing a quote by them about what they like about your company along with basic information about them. How are they part of the their community, and what drew them to you? Postcard printing is cheap enough to make this a very viable strategy to get your name out there. It also allows you to provide people with a constant stream of testimonials while also showing them who your customers are. You might even hold a contest for the customer of the month where different people enter a drawing to win. They get some special deal along with their name on the postcard letting people know what they think. Now you gain the benefits of a testimonial along with a greater loyalty in your customers because you're rewarding them for shopping with you. It just seems to me like postcards are the perfect format for testimonials. Hopefully more companies will start to realize it.
