Website graphics is an essential part of website designing, there are many ways to create them to meet up your demands.

Graphic Interchange Format popularly known as GIF format is used for transmission of images through the data networks. In the year 1990 it was accepted by the World Wide Web, the reason being greater efficiency and user-friendliness. This format is accepted and supported by all major web browsers, as a result maximum graphics on websites are in GIF format. Its supports 8-bits color palettes, in return files size is kept small. This format can compress images with identical colors properly than one with many colors and textures. If you want to create animations, then many single GIF image files are combined to make it. In case looping is done, the animated version can be played repeatedly.

Another graphic file format is ‘Joint Photographic Experts Group' known as JPEG format. They have full color images, also used for reducing size of graphics files. It is far more efficient technique for graphic compression. JPEG can compress a graphic file uptil 100 times smaller than the original file size. But the more you squeeze the image, the finer details of graphic image would get distorted.

Whenever an image is compressed, the data can be lost and not possible to recover it back from the particular graphic file. Therefore it is always advisable to save the original uncompressed file for backup purpose.

Portable Network Graphics or PNG provides many mesmerizing features that can very well support images with wide range of colors and details. It can also display text description of the image, adding value to search engine optimization. When a user searches for an image based on any specific description, the embedded text would help them to land on your website. Nearly all big web browsers support this format.

Apart from file format, another important thing that plays vital role in image creation is the color selection of the graphics. Graphics with good color combination can make your website look attractive, whereas bad color selection would degrade your company image. If general color combination is right, chances of more visitors gets increased.

Too much use of different colors can be extremely distracting, professional graphic designers limit it to just three colors in the graphic images. However the color selection is dependant on your business type and target audience.
