Web designing is the design of web pages, websites and web applications. It is the complete web page outlay which is visible to the viewer. It is a medium used by companies to promote their business and corporate agencies to market several products to the customers. It is simply like fine art, creative art of designer.

Web design today is as basic a business necessity as a visiting card is but many folds significant. A visiting card can convey only so much but a well done Website with an appealing design can say much more. It can make a modest business appear like a big corporation and vice versa.

Right from those yesteryears when Internet first touched our lives and till date, hosts of Web design techniques and tools have emerged which can achieve anything for you on your Website. It would not be an exaggeration to say that there are more ways to do Web design than the colors an Adobe Photoshop pallet has to offer.

By taking the time to learn web design properly and avoiding the errors below you can ensure that the web site you create actually fulfils its function.

Meet your visitors requirements - Numerous websites are built to satisfy the egos of the owners. The concern within the design phase is all about what the designer wants their website to look like, not what makes it work for the customer. Think about why your visitor is coming to your website and provide it in an easy to discover method

All web sites should have relevant content, but not overwhelm the user with a lot of text and information. The first rule of text is to use a standard font. Arial is the most common font and looks great on any screen. Avoid fonts that are not standard and that may be difficult to read. Be sure that the text is an appropriate size - not too small and not too large. Use underlined, bolded and italicized fonts very sparingly. Never, ever type text in all capital letters. The second rule of text is to provide short tidbits of information as opposed to large paragraphs. For this rule using numbered or bulleted sentences is ideal.

With recent web design advancements, such as the introduction of Flash animation and high definition video content, impressive websites have been produced to take advantage of much higher levels of visual effects and interaction. However with this ‘high end' web design, comes a price, more often than not, web designs which rely heavily upon Flash content are often ridiculously slow to load. They often have a progress bar, which slowly goes across the web browser to signify when the website will finish loading.

After building some successful websites many web developers love to pretend that the website will look all the same in different browsers as it appears on their machine. In reality there is a good probability that the website may not look same in all web browsers. Even worse is the fact that sometimes Website can look perfect in every Web browser on one machine, but other machine will render it other way in those same browsers.
