If you are traveling to the Tropical North Queensland area of Australia then you probably know that you must go to the Daintree Rainforest. This is a very unique attraction and one of the largest in this region, containing some of the most unique and gorgeous plants, so it's not a stroll through woods as you will experience some things you've never seen before.

Each plant in this delicate ecosystem serves the total balance of the system in some way. Many of the 28 unique plants found in the Daintree area are strategically located to not only benefit the overall environment, but some actually serve as support to the other plants around it. As with any ecosystem, there is a balance that each part plays its own role in the overall function of the system as a whole.

Some of these plants are not too friendly so you need to be watching for them while you are walking in the area. One of them is a flowering plant called the Idiot Fruit, discovered in 1970 only because it was causing death for cattle who ingested it, as it's toxic for some animals. Another plant to watch for is the Blue Quandons, again only found here, it has a blue fruit that makes a cover for other plants below it not to recieve too much sunshine, this looks like a cool roof in the rainforest region.

And while there are many beautiful plants in the rainforest, some are not as friendly as others. There are several plants that you should be wary of when traveling through the rainforest. Watch for the wait-a-while vine. It hangs from trees and lies on the rainforest floor. Its thin spikes that are likely to rip apart clothing, skin or anything else that comes in contact with it. The stinging tree is another plant to be on the look out for. While it looks harmless the large leaves have prickles all over them and will leave you itching and stinging. The pricks are not obvious but microscopic in size so it is good to check out a picture before your trip through the rainforest.

The rainforest is full of incredible animals and plants, but in this variation you need to keep your hands to yourself if you don't have knowledge regarding the thing you are looking at. Talk to a park ranger or tour guide before you touch anything, this is to keep you safe during your exploration.
