Sharm El Sheikh Is An Overlooked Gem Where Cheap Hotels Can Be Found |

One of the most overlooked tourist destinations
is the Middle East; at least for Americans. While majorca hotels are bustling
with vacationing Americans come the winter months, contrary to popular belief, Spain is not a
particularly exotic locale. It's a little spicier than your typical European
tourism destinations and the Mediterranean Sea is nothing to sneeze at, but
many people from northern European countries choose to go further south when
they want to vacation in the sun. They bypass Majorca, even if there are plenty
of deals featuring cheap hotels to lure them in. I've been at several tourism
conferences in England and France where
travel agents there confided that sharm el sheikh hotels are absolutely world
class facilities and the luxury and amenities offered by these resorts put most
majorca hotels to shame. As a travel writer, I'm reasonably well travelled, but
I have to admit that when they said that, I nodded, finished my drink, and then
excused myself to look it up on my iPhone since I had no idea where this
destination was actually located. After consulting my best friend on the web, hotels4u.com , I not only pinpointed the location, but quickly managed to book a deal on cheap hotels so I could fly down after the conference and check it out for myself. Returning to my initial point, the idea of vacationing in the Middle East is incomprehensible to many Americans and, given our history in that region, I suppose that's understandable. It's too bad, because Egypt is a wonderful destination. The location my European colleagues had recommended was Sharm El Sheikh, on Egypt's Red Sea coast. When you first arrive and see the vast expanse of glittering resorts, sandy beaches, casinos, golf courses, discos, walkways, cafes and shopping, the last thing you would probably ever think is cheap hotels. However, there are bargains to be had if you do your homework and it's possible to stay at one of the sharm el sheikh hotels for much less than you'd expect. I spent a week basking in the sun and exploring everything the region had to offer. Most evenings, I'd wander the long sandy stretch of beach that makes up Na'ama Bay and it was surprising to see groups of people from so many different European countries sitting about having drinks or a gourmet meal. In that way it felt as though I was in one of the majorca hotels I often visited. Coral reefs and clear, tropical water made for spectacular snorkeling and I spent one morning on my first ever camel ride, riding across some of the desert dunes.
