Mexico is a great destination, and has a lot to offer to travellers. Whether you decide to visit the beautiful beaches famous around the world, historical cities from the time of the Spanish colony and archeological sites of cultures such as the Maya, Olmeca and Azteca among others, beautiful national parks in deserts, mountains and forests, or just hang out in one of the modern cities, you will enjoy it. Mexico, one of the most important countries in South America, is known all over the world as a great place to tour and visit. The World Tourism Organization has declared this country to possess one of the greatest tourism industries in the world. It is by far the largest tourist destination in the entire continent of South America and amongst the first ten in the world. One of the prime reasons as to why such a huge number of people opt for Mexico vacations or travel to Mexico per year is the perfect blend of history, culture, and natural reserves that this country provides one with. There are amazingly great Mexico destinations which are marked by diversity. No wonder, travel to Mexico is ever increasing with the passage of time. One of the greatest Mexico destinations in terms of tourism is the ruins of the Meso-American civilization. Once you set your feet in those sites with incredible richness of history, you are bound to feel that you are into some timeframe that is at least a few centuries back. There are several Mexico destinations that bear elements of the famous Aztec civilization. Needless to say, people with even the slightest interest in global history feel drawn towards this country that makes their Mexico vacation quite worth the bill. There are the three great water bodies of Caribbean Sea, North Pacific Ocean, and the Gulf of Mexico that surround this country. As a result, there are vast stretches of beach areas in several parts of the country. There are several Mexico resorts located on or near the beaches. There are several beach activities that are rather unique to this land and a good many number of people spent most of their Mexico vacation at these beach locations. Some of the greatest Mexico destinations that revolve around the beach activities are the Riviera Maya, Mazatlan, Cancun, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Ixtapa, Huatulco, and several others. Apart from the places of historical interest and the beach areas, there are several Mexico destinations that remain crowded with travelers all around the year. Some of the more known among the Mexico destinations in this regard are the federal district and capital city of the country - the Mexico City, Oaxaca, Morelia, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Chiapas, and so on. These are all cities in Mexico popular for the places of tourist interest. The Mexico City, amongst the most populous cities in the world, is home to the sites such as the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun, El Palenque, La Zona Rosa, The Mexican National Palace, the Plaza de Toros Mexico, and several other places. Then, there are also numerous elements here that are witness to its being a great Meso-American city. The Aztec civilization's relics and elements can be found in some parts of this country very evidently. The ruins of the famous Meso-American civilization are found in the Mexico destinations such as Tulum, Palenque, Monte Alban, Malinalco, and others. There are also some important places like Merida, Campeche, Dolores Hidalgo, Morelia, and so on that bear great architectural works that are legacy of the Spanish Colony of the yesteryears.
