If you take a little time to gaze out over the vies of the city of Brisbane you will see that there is a good mix of both old, historical architecture and some of the more sparkling new stuff. It was during the 1980's that Brisbane was first begun to be pumped full of money and promise. They did this for the purpose of hosting the Commonwealth Games And Expo, and the city has done nothing but grow since that time. The city and the area around it known as Queensland has become one of the best places to visit because of all this growth and expansion. If you want to see the center of this part of the world, it is without a doubt the city of Brisbane. This is where you will find the focus of the Queensland business and where the government buildings are all housed. City hall is an absolute sight and will have anyone that see's it well impressed. It marks the center of the city of Brisbane with all sorts of interesting things to see on the roads that lead to and from that. Along those streets you can find many avenues of entertainment from fine dining to street corner musicians. You will enjoy the incredibly inviting modern buildings that are here. It is nice to see the older structures such as the Old Windmill and the Parliament House because of their history and charm, but there is nothing quite like a visit to the Queen Street Mall. This huge shining mall is a must for any shopper whether a resident or visitor. Another even newer marvel is the Conrad Casino. Even if you are not a gambler it is worth a visit just to see the way this massive building reflects in the Brisbane River. The surrounding South Bank Parklands region is another area right around Brisbane that is very modern and houses a large swimming and beach area, and is surrounded by 40 acres of parkland and a boardwalk. This is also the location that houses most of the art and cultural events of the area. Here you will find the Complexes for the Performing Arts, the art gallery, museum and State Library. You will find that this section of Brisbane is like the country part of the city with much greenery and is an enjoyable place to go to get away from the Metropolis. Brisbane is not only located in an amazing part of the world it is an amazing city. There is the mix of the incredible historical old architecture mixed in with the sparkling and starkly beautiful modern areas. You can find any number of places to see shows and enjoy fine dining. Or instead take some time to enjoy one of the many parks and walkways that are all over the place. It is a wonderful welcoming city that loves it's visitors.
