Philadelphia is the largest city in the state of Pennsylvania and the sixth most populous city in the United States.

Home of the world famous cheese steak and many historical sites - including Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed - the City of Brotherly Love is a bustling and cultural city.

Philadelphia has a rich history which is present in its many museums, traditional neighbourhoods and architecture.

After a day of cultural landmarks and beautiful scenery, the city offers a wide range of vibrant nightlife and delectable dining experiences.

Holidaying in the United States can be an experience, with travel to Philadelphia a stone's throw away from the bustling New York state.

The city has two major airports, and cheap flights are available to the surrounding cities. If you're looking at see a bit more of the state, a fly-drive holiday might be your best option.

Domestic flights from Philadelphia International are also available at affordable prices. And whilst flying may cut out the scenery in-between, it allows the opportunity for quick travel in a short space of time, which is ideal if you are looking to visit specific attractions or visit any friends or family that are dotted throughout different states.

Alternatively, some holidaymakers combine cheap flights to New York and travel cross-country using different methods of transport. Philadelphia is served by many major bus services - including the cross-country Greyhound service - and the city's subway system, opened in 1907, is the third oldest in the United States.

If you want to experience the United States through cross-country train travel, Philadelphia's 30th St Station is the heart of the cities' rail network.

Holidaymakers have the chance to travel on a range of services using the Amtrak train network, with destinations including Chicago, New York and even Miami, allowing the opportunity to stagger flights throughout the duration of their stay.

For those wanting to experience the lush landscape and rolling hills of the Blue Mountains, there are many fly-drive options and car hire companies around Pennsylvania, with a range of hotels in townships off the busy interstates.
