After the dark and cold winter months many people will already be dreaming about their summer holidays. The thought of a few weeks away to a sun filled, sandy beach is usually enough to lift anyone's spirits but, if money is tight or your looking for a unique holiday, you may want to consider a summer working abroad. Working throughout the summer months is a common practice for many students around the world but isn't solely reserved for the young. Many other adventurous types are using their holiday time to make a little extra cash, gain some job experience and meet new and interesting people across the globe.

There are many different jobs to be found abroad but the most common for students and travellers are fruit picking or office work. With a constant need for summer workers these jobs are often advertised on travellers and working holiday websites; although hard work this can be a great way to experience the culture of a country and will certainly throw you straight into a new and exciting life. If you have some specific skills you are keen to use you may be able to find suitable work that will not only give you valuable career experience but will allow you to meet like minded people from across the world.

If you're looking for an extra challenge you could try using your language skills to teach English or pick up some voluntary work in some of the world's poorest area. This type of work will not only help hundreds of others but will make you feel great and proud that your summer holiday has been put to good use.

If you are considering working abroad you will need to get the relevant paper work in order to ensure your work is legal and within the parameters of the countries legislation. Check out the working visa situation in your desired country and make sure you fit into their criteria before booking any flights or accommodation. If in doubt head to the nearest embassy where you can ask questions and pick up all the relevant forms you will need.

For worried parents and friends everywhere there are several ways for them to keep tabs on your adventures wherever you are. For extreme worriers there are mobile tracking devices that can tell them your exact whereabouts at all times. If your family is a little less strict you may want to carry a phone card for calling abroad to enable you to call home whenever you get a pang of homesickness. Wherever you are in the world staying in good contact with your family and friends will let them share in your adventure and will give you peace of mind throughout your working holiday.

Working abroad can be a welcome change to your usual summer holiday so, whatever job you would like or country you want to visit, there are plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy a fun trip away whilst giving your CV a much needed boost.
