Local bands remain an integral part of Boston's culture and visitors to the area can enjoy a night of local music on almost any night of the week at a number of different venues.

Unsurprisingly, Boston's culture is largely influenced by Irish Americans, as the city has been a major destination for Irish immigrants since the 19th century, when the first wave of Irish nationals arrived at the city's port. Irish colonists first celebrated St. Patrick's Day in Boston in March 1737, the first civic and public celebration of St. Patrick in U.S history. Presently, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated throughout Boston by most of the population, regardless of whether they are of Irish descent or not. Celebrations in Boston tend to be large affairs, with street parades and parties taking place throughout the city every year. Many tourists visit Boston at this time of year to join in the celebrations, making the city's St. Patrick's Day festivities some of the largest in the world. Indeed, many hotels in Boston find themselves unable to cater to the demand of party hungry visitors every March.

Boston's rich culture will see tourists coming back again and again, offering a fascinating glimpse into some of the key events that occurred during the American Revolution coupled with friendly locals and culture at every turn.
