Like anything else in life proper preparation for a Eurail vacation will make it that much better. If you are taking a drill vacation in Europe the odds are that you are going to be traveling between a few countries in any given number of days. If this is your first time and you haven't yet done this trip or anything like it it can seem rather daunting but in reality it is not much work at all and completely worth it in the end. You should probably have a pretty good idea of what you want to visit and for how long because knowing in advance of a little bit about each place is incredibly helpful. Make sure that you know all the specifics about your past and specifically which one you purchased. Reading the traveler's guide that comes with your your real test is also highly recommended as it answers most of the questions first-time travelers will have.

Do a little bit of research about the country you plan on visiting next. Learn words like thank you, please and how to count. This will help you greatly as you purchase things from locals and remember to always do it with a huge smile. Learning a little bit about each country's cultures is also really good idea so that you don't make any serious foe paws while you're visiting.

If you are looking to book accommodations for your trip there aren't plenty of sites online that can help you with this. I found that almost all of the places I stayed in had access to the Internet and bookings were much easier to make online than over the phone. If you do have to go, the phone is really not a daunting thing to have two do. Because these people who owned hotels see so many travelers, they will probably speak your language or have somebody working there who does. Because you're reading this in English, I think it's safe to assume that you speak English as a first language and it is a very commonly spoken language in Europe.

With your Eurail pass you should receive anytime tableau of trains. This was probably the most important piece of documentation, a site for my passport, that I brought with me on the trip. It lets you know which trains you can get on, when, and whether or not you have to pay extra fees for high-speed trains or reservations. I did find that a few of the train times had changed since the printing of the schedule due to construction or other unperceived circumstances so try and find the train company's website if at all possible to confirm train times. Make sure that you read the supplements provided with your timetable so you know exactly how it works and what all the little symbols mean.

Now that you've figured out which train is supposed to be on and where you're sleeping that night, you can finally sit back and enjoy the train ride. This aspect is my most favorite part about traveling by train and really can't be compared to anything else. It is one of the most relaxing ways to travel because you can just sit back and look out the window for six hours if you so choose. I also found that the movement of the train and the noises coming from the tracks were very comforting and maybe feel like I was a part of landscape rather than just flying over top of it. I did take a few planes and buses on my trip through Europe but I found that planes were incredibly impersonal and buses only got you to see the major highways of Europe which were necessarily the most beautiful parts. We also had some hilarious experiences on the bus with some of Europe's less rich citizens.

Because of the freedom that the Eurail Pass gives you you will actually be able to enjoy your vacation and cut out a good number of stress is normally associated with travel. Personally, I would never travel to European train system any other way than with a Eurail global pass because I think that it is completely worth the money you pay for it for what you end up getting out of it.
