Pontins is one of the major operators of holiday parks in the UK and was founded by Fred Pontin in 1946. Pontins offers holiday parks throughout the UK and are famed for their self catering holiday chalets and quality entertainment. Over the years Pontins has changed hands many times, for as much as £56 million in the late 1970s. Many of Pontins holiday parks underwent major modernisation in the mid 1990s and they are now owned by Ocean Parks, who bought the Pontins company in 2008 for £46 million. At one point Pontins operated dozens of holiday parks in the country, but over the years has streamlined its operation considerably. Pontins now operates six holiday parks in the UK, located in Southport, Denbighshire, Burnham-on-Sea, Pakefield, Camber Sands and Blackpool. Southport is also the location of the Pontins head office. Much of the entertainment at Pontins holiday parks is provided by the famous Blue Coats, of which there have been some very famous wearers. Eastenders Shane Ritchie and Bobby Davro were once Blue Coats, as was Helen Chamberlain, who now hosts Sky Sports' Soccer AM. The remaining Pontins holiday parks have the very best of what Pontins has to offer for some great family holidays. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
