Imagine the scene: The summer wind blowing past your face, the gentle tweeting of birds, absolute peace and quiet whilst you line up your shot. You draw back focussing on the little white ball placed in front of you and your opponents hold their breath as you begin your downswing and with all your might you smash the ball far off in to the distance landing neatly on the green much to the distain of your golfing partner. This is what golfing abroad is all about, the peace and quiet and obviously an idyllic location for people to play the game and truly enjoy their surroundings, as opposed to traipsing round the 18 holes back home in the pouring rain or the cold, biting wind. People of all ages are discovering golf as a popular pastime thanks to the increase of young golfers such as Tiger Woods Ian Poulter and Michelle Wie. Some holidaymakers this year are actually taking their clubs with them and chasing birdies at some of the best championship golf courses in Europe. Spain and Portugal are highly popular locations for golfers to practice a few rounds whilst in the sun. Obviously the agreeable weather mixed with some testing sea breezes makes for perfect golf situations. In Spain, one of the most popular places for British tourists to spend their holidays, there are many championship grade courses near Valencia, Spain's third largest city. Valencia apart from being home to Paella is also home to courses such as El Saler, El Bosque and Foressos. Valencia is not just popular for it's golf courses either, it has plenty of other activities to do with stunning beaches and picturesque mountains there is much more than the 18 holes to explore. Other areas such as Marbella have entire hotel and holiday home complexes built around golf courses as they've caught on to trend of people there on golfing holidays to Spain Portugal is another popular golf holiday location, specifically the Algarve on the southern coast which is home to some of Europe's most popular courses such as Alto Golf and Palmares. Obviously there are many more courses all over the world and depending on how dedicated you are there are the Canadian and American courses that are staples of championships such as the PGA Tour. When looking for cheap holidays though you can't beat the attractions of Spain and Portugal where golf courses are just a small sample of what you can expect when spending your time in the sun.
