Orlando and Bass Fishing Florida is well known as "The Bass Fishing Capital of the World" with Lake Okeechobee leading the way as one of the most well known lakes in the state of Florida. The most often overlooked part of the state is beautiful Orlando. When people hear "Orlando Vacation" they think mostly of Disney, Sea World and Universal Studios, but what a lot of people don't realize is the great bass fishing this area holds, and just how close to all 3 major theme parks the great fisheries are. Starting with the Great Butler Chain of Lakes, located in and around the town of Windemere Florida, they are just minutes away from all 3 major theme parks, and offer some excellent bass fishing on what we believe to be some of Florida's most pristine waters. Butler Chain has been referred to as more of a northern type chain of lakes, with its clean waters and deep holes, ranging up to almost 40 feet deep, this chain offers some great bass fishing action using a wide variety of techniques from your typical worm fishing to jigging spoons, which makes it a very popular chain for the fishermen coming down from the north for a break from the cold and snow. Clermont Chain is yet another great bass fishery, with that "Old Florida" look to it. With the tanic waters from the cypress trees that ring these great lakes and the river that takes you to the many lakes on this chain, it gives you the feel of what life was like before big development hit the state. This great chain hold some very good bass fishing action, and is well known to take 15 to 25 pounds to win a one day tournament with several 10 pound plus bass being caught yearly here, and only 30 minutes from the major theme parks. The great Kissimmee Chain of lakes. Lake Kissimmee, Lake Toho, Lake Cypress, and Lake Hatchinea. These lakes are world famous and have consistently produced big bass year round. In 2006 the Bass Master Classic was held on Lake Toho and it was a record setting tournament with several 10 pound plus bass being caught, even in what turned out to be some of the toughest weather conditions to fish in. This chain is roughly a 20 minute drive from the International Drive area. John's Lake, Located on the Orange/Lake County line, and just 1.4 miles from the Turnpike on Highway 50 is a very nice body of water. This body of water has a very good mix of shallow and deep waters with select areas very well know for schooling fish first thing in the mornings. John's Lake can be an anglers paradise with the ability to use several different techniques from flipping to fly fishing to catch bass and crappie. These are just a few of some of the great lakes right here in Central Florida, all within minutes of all three major theme parks, with literally hundreds of hotels and a wide variety of shops and restaurants to make your vacation complete. _________________ Capt.
