The sporting world has lost many great athletes over the years. All have been tragic and sad in one form or another. As sad as it all is, the sporting world still is as motivated as ever to continue strong and unrelenting. A MLB pick and foam fingers will continue to grow in popularity—even though someone special to the world of professional sports has passed on. But sadly, it is inevitable. The most recent loss for the sporting community is John Marzano. John Marzano was born on Valentine's Day of 1963 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has left a lasting impression on the world since. John Marzano was commonly known as Johnny Marz or the Marz Man. After Marzano graduated from Central High School, he attended for a short time Holy Family College. He was studied radiologic technology and eventually attended and played baseball for the Temple University Owls for two years. Soon after, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox of the American League. Here are the professional teams that he had played for:
Marzano was also a member of the silver medal-winning Olympic team. And he found the Marzano Baseball Academy in 1991 because he cared for others and wanted to give back. More recently, Marzano was a co-host for MLB.com's "Leading Off" with good friend Vinny. Not only was he a fantastic baseball player, but he was a fantastic, caring human being—and he will be missed.
