The Magic Mirror |

One day while waiting in a department store I had the chance to watch the magic that a mirror can produce. As different people passed in front of the mirror I saw various expressions and heard many different phrases. The first individual walked in front of a mirror, raised her eyebrows, hesitantly shook her head, and said, "This is not for me." The next individual walked in front of the mirror and also raised her eyebrows. The following action was that of dropping her jaw and intensely focusing on the image in front of her. It was like she had saw a dish taken out of the oven that turned out to be not quite the same as her expectation. She continued looking at this one area over and over again. The more she looked at the image in front of her, the more her face wrinkled with a look of disgust. Like looking in a mirror, when we pause to look at ourselves or certain aspects of ourselves, there are two common outcomes that occur. 1- Like the first individual when we pause and look within, this time can bring clarity. Often in life we need to slow down to see what is really going on within ourselves. We, like the first individual can then see clearly if something is for us or if we should choose something else. 2- Other times in life we are similar to the second lady. We have less positive feelings inside and we think about them too long. The more we think about them the more intense the feelings become. In this situation we have to find something else to help us walk away from the mirror. As I watched others pass in front of the mirror in the department store I learned the mirror wasn't magical. It however, was like in fairytales, a way to allow others to look within. Before we stand in front of the mirror, we should know what we are looking for. Are we looking for clarity or intensification? Please feel free to use this article. We simply ask that you link back to our site at www.fhandlove.org.cn/home.html.
