Why I Am Where I AM

Have you ever stopped to think about why you think like you do, why you do the things you do, and why you get the results you do? It really is worth your time to stop and give it some thought. This time of reflection, though sometimes difficult and uncomfortable, can be quite revealing and helpful in moving forward physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially. In my last two articles I touched briefly on this topic, when describing an internal cleaning. I believe this topic is so important it is worth revisiting in more depth. We are each the sum total of our thoughts, beliefs and experiences because once again, our thoughts lead to our beliefs, which in turn lead us to our actions and then to our results. It is our thoughts and experiences that have brought us to where we are today. Science has revealed that we have approximately 66,000 thoughts a day, most of them repetitive and negative. For example: so and so is not acting like I want them to; what I must do, that I do not want to do; what I lack and so on. The vast majority of our thoughts come from our parents, the schools we attended, the church we joined and the environment we live in. The adults in our life as well as our culture, have passed on to us their knowledge, their beliefs, their ways and what they had been programmed to believe and think. Today, as an adult, our thoughts are often tied to our spouse's, our siblings', or work colleague's thoughts. Thoughts and beliefs can come to us from as far back as many generations ago. Our ancestors as well as the current people in our lives could not pass down what they did not know or what they had not experienced. It does not make them wrong, it just means they were unaware of certain things. Beliefs tend to be formed early in life and remain fixed. The majority of our basic beliefs are actually formed by the time we are 7 years old. When we are little we often accept unconditionally, therefore as an adult if you do not ever question your thought patterns and beliefs, you could be a 7 year old walking in a 45 year old body. In turn, whatever we fail to change, we pass down to the people we are in contact with; children, spouses, colleagues, friends and so the cycle continues year after year, and from one generation to the next. We can only ever give away to others what we know. The good news is that we can each change our thoughts if we become aware of them and recognize the results they bring into our life. Easy? Not likely, but definitely worth working at. It is the secret to getting different results in your life. " Think for yourself. No one else is qualified." - Frank Vizarre We have all experienced negative and positive things in our life. An important point to ponder is that nothing has meaning except the meaning we give it. Some individuals choose to internalize the negative, hold onto it and it literally cripples them and gives them dis-ease. Others having gone through similar events emerge stronger and move forward because of it. Whether you are conscious of it or not, you will continue to suffer the consequences of an event until your spirit lets it go. Think of it, if you were to see someone holding on to a hot rock and he or she was screaming, " My hand is burning." you would simply reply, "Drop the rock." It could be simple and quick. Yet how many of us continue to hold on to things that are hurting us. Lynette Chartier, Life Style Mentor and Successful Entrepreneur, is helping many become the next success story.
