It is of paramount importance for us to focus our energies on our
strengths rather than our weaknesses. Although in our society it is the other
way round. We are asked to focus on our weaknesses and find out ways to
overcome them. This is a colossal waste of our time and our energies. The book
Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath allows you to ascertain your strengths and
work on them to improve and become better than what you were. The book is
written in such a way that after reading a few pages you would be required to
take a psychology test online that would determine your five strengths out of
34 possible ones. It also provides 10 actions for each of the strengths so that
you can develop it to the full ability. The author who is a director of the Gallup
poll company believes that if a person is not working in the domain wherein he
can improve upon his strengths then definitely would have less moments of
creativity and positivism in his life, would not have healthy interactions with
his colleagues, would not feel inclined towards going to work and is more
likely to do less in a day. The book is more of an entry key to an online
questionnaire which compares the response to a base of 10 million responses
already existing and thus endeavors to improve upon our strengths. According to
the book each one of our five strengths is influenced by the other four. Thus,
as a result it gives a very personalized result for each individual. Also ten
actions are suggested for each of the strength to further develop it.
