Tarot cards can arouse both, attraction and fear the same time in the minds of people. Many of us simply believe that tarot cards can foretell future, however there is much more to it than that. Similar to the predictions made by the zodiac signs, tarot cards also offer an insight into a person's nature. It is important to know how tarot cards depict ways to improve your future. To begin with, a tarot card is a deck of 78 cards. Out of these seventy eight cards, 22 are referred to as the major cards or simply the "Major Arcana". The other 56 cards belong to the "Minor Arcana". Similar to the deck of playing cards, there are four suites in the tarot card deck and each suite has 14 cards. Every reader has a different interpretation of the cards and hence your reading can differ from person to person. There are a lot of mysteries associated with the origin of tarot cards and the intention of keeping them. It is a belief that your first deck of tarot cards has to be a gift because purchasing your own first deck could bring some bad luck with it. Unlike the other arts of fortune telling, you are not required to be a reader yourself with tarot cards. Anyone with minimal understanding of the deck can predict the future. However, interpreting the cards in a correct manner is nothing less than a skill that takes some time to develop and gain expertise. This is exactly how the reading begins. The person who wants to get a reading shuffles these 78 cards and lays them down on the table facing down. He is then required to pick some cards, with their faces down and hands them over to the reader. The reader then places these cards on the table facing down and such a process is called a spread in the tarot card terminology. The spread can be of any pattern and again it largely depends on the reader. The reader then interprets the cards and their meanings, associates it with the ideas and visualizations from its subconscious mind and foresees the future.
