Drug Rehab Treatment Gets Addicts Off The Streets |

I was one of those people you see hanging out on the street, panhandling and occasionally becoming abusive. I was homeless, but not in the sense of having no access to home; I simply didn't want to be anywhere near my parent's house and chose to hang out downtown with a bunch of my buddies. I was high most of the time, first by choice, but that quickly turned into addiction and then I was out of it most of my waking hours because I felt I had no other option. I probably should have sought Drug Rehab Treatment before things spiraled completely out of control, but that's assuming that I was of sound mind and, clearly, I was far from that. After a few arrests for mostly petty crimes (shoplifting and public intoxication), I attempted to move back home, but I was hooked on crack and things went badly. My dad found a crack pipe in my room and when I was caught rifling my mom's purse for spare cash to pay off a dealer, they told me I had to give up drugs for good or get out of their house. They even suggested a Christian Drug Rehab that had been featured on the local news because of its innovative treatment (A Forever Recovery or stopyouraddiction.com), but I wasn't interested. I couldn't afford Drug Rehab Treatment at that point anyway.
I never really stopped to think about how my parents knew I was hooked on drugs. As far as they were concerned, I'd been living with my friend in an apartment downtown and working part time while I went to school. But obviously they had seen signs of my addiction, despite the fact that I avoided them. Maybe that avoidance was itself a clue? After I completed treatment and was well on the way to turning my life around, my mom confided in me and said that she'd spoken to a counselor at the Christian Drug Rehab who'd taken the time to review warning signs with her. Apparently I was a classic case. Catching me with the crack pipe was only confirmation of what my parents had long suspected. Another thing I didn't realize until after I had beaten my addiction was the lengths my parents went to in order to make sure I had access to the treatment I needed. My family was never wealthy and Drug Rehab Treatment can be expensive, but my parents worked with a clinic that offered financial services, so they didn't have to be approved for a bank loan.
I still see my counselor on a regular basis, but I've put life on the street behind me. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
