Your memory skills are very complex, and affected by a number of factors. Yes, it is true that your memory skills will naturally erode with age. Experts have long believed that what we eat and drink has an impact on thinking capacity, but this is the first work to show the benefit of a food like blueberries in helping the memory.

This learning period was followed by a time of wakeful rest (about 8 minutes) where the subjects were told only to relax and think about whatever they liked. Therein lies an important lesson in memory training. If you want to remember something try and associate it with something unusual or funny.

You can imagine yourself in the supermarket, looking at the labels and putting the items into shopping cart. The more realistic and vivid your imagination is, the more you can recall when you shop.

The third way to improve memory is to make use of music. You may find that you remember things better when you have music on in the background. It certainly doesn't mean that you can't have a healthy, quick mind. All it means is that you may want to take steps to keep track of things without having to rely entirely on your memory.

Just like any other activity or a sport, you need to exercise and stimulate your body to gain your objective and that is to win. That is what memories are, connections between neurons, and they can be improved by working out your brain.

Developing a photographic memory is often as much about the way you memorise the information in the first place as about how much effort you put into recalling it. At lunch, try to remember what songs you listened to and in what order they played. You can skip backward on your iPod to see how you did .

So by listening to an isochronic tone recording that takes you into the theta state, you may be able to bypass your conscious blocks and retrieve 'hidden' memories from the subconscious. A lot also depend on the stress level for memory to deteriorate before time. However, it is perfectly normal to forget a thing or two at later stage in life.
