1. Give it a try yourself, even if you 'know' you are not a good writer. Have fun with it. Gain inspiration from the poems you remember from childhood, like 'roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you!'. Sometimes a simple rhyme you created yourself makes such an impression. You'll knock your lover off their feet!

2. Start with longer prose that you can find in a poetry book at your local library. You could even leave the love poem just as it is, credit the author, and write it on pretty paper with your favorite pen. You might even try your hand at calligraphy or use scented ink.

3. Take the lead from an old love song. Love songs are so often just a form of poetry put to music. You could even make a recording of yourself saying or singing it.
