Applied Psychology - Understanding Human Behavior in Different Work settings

The field of psychology has undergone huge changes that have created new definitions, revealed new dimensions and have led to the discovery of new theories attempting to explain the thinking prowess of the human mind in different situations. Applied Psychology is the discipline that uses the fundamentals of psychology to foster answers to certain questions pertaining to the changes in the way the human brain works. This is to provide solution to the behavioral or attitudinal problems occurring in different fields or lines of work.

Though a psychologist specializing in Applied Psychology can pursue his or her career in diverse streams, the main areas they tend to choose are; Clinical Psychology, Industrial and/or Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology and Legal Psychology. Another field that has gained momentum in the study of Applied Psychology is Human Factors.

Students, who take up Applied Psychology as their preferred choice for studying, need to submit a thesis which focuses on the academic side of the stream and the relevance of the application of it in different fields. Such as the field of Organizational and Industrial Psychology that focuses on research work to understand and cope with behavioral changes of people in different work environments. The thesis is embraced as a part of the coursework which enhances the necessary skills of a student to prepare him for making a career as a behavioral scientist.

An area where Applied Psychology is widely embraced is sports. Sports Psychology, therefore, is a discipline that studies the interrelationship between anxiety and performance and employs methods such as cognitive-behavioral treatments to facilitate anxiety elimination and performance development with the help of research. How helpful is the cognitive-behavioral treatment is also part of its study. The cognitive-behavioral treatment process implies techniques like positive thinking, diaphragmatic breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, etc.

Apart from Applied Psychology being a popular and quite an interesting concentration of education that has been in the favorites list of many students across the world, the Master of Business Administration or MBA course tops the list. It is the professional qualification that prepares one to be best suited for the corporate world.

A corporate career, that too in management positions, comes with a great deal of responsibilities coupled with vision, commitment, and leadership skills; things you can only acquire if you complete an MBA course from a reputable institute.

Almost all organizations on the present day are emphasizing on a professional degree like the MBA. This is just because of the highly focused nature of a program like MBA course; by dint of which one can achieve all the success he desires.
