If you have no idea what an interactive whiteboard is then do not fear as the concept is very simple. An interactive whiteboard is a surface onto which a computer screen can be displayed, via a projector. Being able to control the screen using your computer or laptop keyboard means you can improve the flow of lessons and make the learning experience more streamlined for everyone involved. Changes made to information projected onto the whiteboard are transferred to the computer and can be saved and used again in future lessons. The ability to make instant changes to your documents saves you time as you do not have to amend the document when class is over; all changes made via the whiteboard are just as they would be on your computer screen. Interactive whiteboards have the potential to improve teaching and learning by improving understanding of new concepts and increasing pupil motivation and involvement. Having an interactive whiteboard means you can make learning more exciting and engaging for your pupils. You can deliver lessons interactively using a variety of methods including interactive presentations and colour visuals. If the computer being used is linked to speakers and a DVD or video player then multimedia resources can be incorporated. If the computer is connected to the internet then you can access relevant websites to strengthen and enhance the topic being studied. Learning can be reinforced with games and quick quizzes. Being able to communicate with your students in a variety of different ways makes it easier to ensure your classes are interesting and engaging and anything that helps to sustain the attention of students is sure to be a positive addition. An interactive whiteboard can be used in geography to brighten up classes through the display of maps, urban models, charts and images. Interactive whiteboards can make an important contribution to the presentation of new information, modelling new concepts and processes, creating simulations, stimulating discussion and explaining new ideas. Pupils can also take control of the whiteboard too and use the platform to present their own ideas to the rest of the class for discussion. This encourages pupils to work together to understand the subject matter and allows opportunity for review and reflection of everything learned in the class. If you are thinking about getting an interactive whiteboard for your classroom or already have one but want to know more about how to get the most from it, then have a search on the internet for free teaching resources. There are various teaching resources out there that will help you to get the best from these truly interactive teaching aids. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
