The Herb Centre This wonderful place consists of a delightful corner cafe that provides primarily veggie snacks (you will find merely one carnivorous choice on the menus...) in addition to brews the New Zealand Coffee Awards 2009-10 Gold Award winning, New Brighton-based Switch Espresso. It is also an amazingly stocked dispensary/ health store that includes a large selection of supplements, organic body goods and every essential oil you can imagine, an outdoor garden and a clinic which offers midwifery services, alternative addiction remedy, and herbal and naturopathic medicine. Phew. It is really simply the only one-stop-shop for the granola sect in the complete city (that we are aware of, anyway...in case your organization is one, as well, please let us know!). It is a alternative style cafe Christchurch should really be proud of! The space, situated on Kilmore St, is fittingly calming, with wood flooring, substantial, uncovered windows that wash the area in ethereal light, and also the tranquilizing fragrances of lavender and patchouli. It's fantastically distinctive (peep the lovable as drawings of dancing eggs around the blackboard wall menu!) plus the food is fresh and superb, try the GF, dairy free Winter Root Vegetable Cake, it was a hit within my moderately veggie household. Come summertime, I reckon the backyard is going to be jam-choked with revellers seeking a quiet place to unwind with a mug plus a socially aware slice. Addington Coffee Co-op Nestled on Lincoln Rd, essential to Addington village, Addington Coffee Co-op is a quaintly deluxe, all-natural light filled cafe and roastery that spins Blondie, roasts and peddles their unique brand of Fair Trade (and DELICIOUS) coffee and feels like your living room (if you're the individual whose living room features a pitch-perfect quantity of refined kitsch along with the most impacting atmosphere in the area). The organization, located inside a big previous mechanics work shop, required 9 months to master as well as quake proof (that is fortuitous!) and is loaded to the top at all times of the day with an modern mix of fresh neo-hipsters, chatty stay-at-home-mums and extravagant looking suits searching for a comfy spot for a lunch conference together with a top quality, newly made slice, pastry or sandwich. Along with their ultra cool and mindful use of Fair Trade coffee, additionally they offer "organic threads" made by survivors from the sex-trade in Calcutta Thus, in conclusion: the coffee is superb, the furnishings is impeccable as well as their business techniques are morally righteous.
