Overview: - The Unibind X-Tower is a special storage rack that is designed specifically to hold your Unibind binding covers and spines.
- However
Unibind X-Towers can be used for more than just storage. They can also
be used to create a highly professional work surface for use in binding
your reports, presentations and proposals.
- It is possible to set a single unit on your counter or use multiple units to create your own countertop.
- They are simple, practical and can integrate perfecting into almost any office environment.
Strengths / Features: - From
looking at a picture, the X-Tower looks fairly flimsy. However, when
you see one in real life you will find that it is actually quite sturdy
and durable. The top and the back of the unit is made from wood while
the rails and bars on the front and side of the machine are made of
high quality heavy duty plastic. X-Towers used to be made completely of
wood but were redesigned to include plastic components in order to
reduce the weight.
- Speaking of weight, a single X-Tower only
weighs about thirteen pounds. This means that they are easy to move and
transport or to stack into customized configurations.
- Each
X-Tower is designed to be used as a standalone unit. They measure
approximately 17-1/8" x 13-7/8" x 14-3/8" in size and can will easily
sit on a countertop or work surface. However, many user choose take
two, four or six X-Towers an stack them together in order to create a
binding work surface. By stacking the units two high you have a
comfortable counter height surface where you can place your Unibind
machine or assemble your documents.
- Each of the Unibind
X-Tower units can hold up to four large boxes of Unibind covers or
spines. Alternatively, they can hold up to eight smaller boxes of
supplies. Once you have emptied a box you can convert it into a drawer
for your accessories or you can conveniently replace it with another
full box of supplies. This configuration helps to keep your binding
supplies neat, organized and at your fingertips.
Weaknesses / Limitations: - Unibind
X-Towers are shipped flat and have to be assembled by the end user.
This helps to save on shipping costs and reduce damage. They really
aren't that difficult to assemble. The only tool that you will need is
an Allan Key that is included in the box with the pieces. However none
of the literature tells you that you have to assemble them.
- Although
the units appear to be fairly durable, they are still made of plastic
and should not be overloaded. The work surface produced by the X-Towers
should not be used to sit or stand on. They will be fine for normal
usage but should also not be used to hold heavy machines or paper
handling machines.
- All of the pictures that you will see of
X-Towers will show them full of Unibind boxes. However, the supplies
are sold separately. These units look a lot better when they are full
but it can cost quite a bit of money to buy that many boxes of
supplies. This is something to keep in mind if you decide to purchase
multiple units in order to create a work surface.
Recommendation: - The Unibind X-Tower makes an excellent storage rack for your boxes of Unibind covers and spines.
- However,
depending on your needs you can use these units for a lot more than
storage. They can create a highly professional and usable work surface
to hold your Unibind machine. You can even use the top of these racks
to assemble your documents.
- All of these things make X-Towers an excellent choice for almost any size of organization.
