Overview: - The Tamerica Tashin
TW3100 is a double loop wire binding machine that includes a 3:1 pitch
punch, a wire closer and a wire hanger.
- The stylish and compact design offered by the TW-3100 makes it an ideal choice for organizations that have limited space.
- The
TW-3100 is designed for binding documents with 3:1 pitch twin loop
wire. It is designed for binding documents that are up to 9/16" thick
and as long as 14 inches.
Strengths: - The
TW3100 has 40 fully disengageable pins for punching documents that are
up to fourteen inches in length. This makes the TW-3100 the least
expensive double loop wire binding machine capable of binding legal
sized documents.
- The TW3100 has two handles. One is designed
to operate the punching mechanism on the machine. Using this handle you
can punch up to twenty sheets of paper at a time. The other handle is
designed to operate the wire closer. The two handle design of this
machine helps to ensure that the wire closer stays accurate over time
and reduces stress on the punching mechanism.
- The TW-3100 has
fully disengageable dies which means that it can be used to punch any
length of document up to fourteen inches long. It also has a four
position depth of punch margin control that is used to adjust the
distance of the holes from the edge of the paper. This is a useful
feature when binding very small books with the TW-3100.
- The
TW-3100 is made of metal not of plastic and its metal components are
designed to hold up for organizations that need to bind documents every
day.
- Like other machines from Tamerica / Tashin the TW-3100
comes with a 2 year warranty. Most other wire binding machines
available on the market only come with a one year warranty. The extra
year offered by Tamerica shows their confidence in the design of their
machine.
Weaknesses / Limitations: - The
concealed wire closer on the front of this machine is durable enough
for most moderate volume applications. However, the fact that you have
to flip open the compartment to use the wire closer is less than
convenient. This design adds an additional step to the binding process.
- The manual nature of this machine makes it ideal for light
and moderate volume binding applications. Users who need to bind a lot
of books may want to consider a machine with an electric punch.
- The
TW-3100 is designed for binding documents with 3:1 pitch twin loop
wire. This limits the sizes of documents that can be bound with this
machine. Three to one pitch wire binding spines are available in sizes
from 3/16" up to 9/16" in diameter. Organizations that need to bind
larger sized books will need to consider a machine that punches holes
for 2:1 pitch binding or a machine that punches both 2:1 and 3:1 holes.
Recommendation: - The TW-3100 is an excellent 3:1 pitch wire binding machine that offers legal sized punching and binding.
- However
the design of the machine and the fact that it has a manual punch does
not lend itself to high volume punching applications.
- Still
this machine's metal construction and convenient compact design make it
an ideal solution for organizations looking for a reasonably priced
feature rich twin loop wire binding solution.
