Information about the Sony A810 Mp3 Player and Its Features

The new NWZ-A810 and NWZ-S610 series of Walkman digital music players have a standard user interface that makes it easy to enjoy songs, videos or pictures. For crystal-clear image quality, the video players have a large 320x240 pixel LCD screen that displays video at 30 frames per second. The battery life allows up to eight hours of video playback for the NWZ-A810 series and nine-and-a-half hours for the NWZ-S610 series.

Unlike the mostly plastic S610, the A810 looks and feels exceptionally well made. There's certainly nothing toy-like about the brushed metal (available in black, white, pink, and silver) or very shiny chrome-looking bands, Walkman and Sony logos, and control borders.

The A810 Walkman has the same straightforward user interface as the S610. The only difference is that the former has a clock icon while the latter has an FM radio icon in the top row. Both players have the same clock screensaver functionality; the A810 has a dedicated icon for it because it lacks a built-in FM tuner.

The audio quality with the DSEE feature turned on is excellent; it restores parts of the music that are lost during compression and generally livens up the sound. There's also a custom five-band equalizer and a handful of EQ presets. The player supports MPEG-4 video, unprotected AAC, MP3, WMA, and protected WMA music files, and JPEG photos. Content looked and sounded great, though the 320 x 240-pixel screen's colors were a little drab for our taste.

Supported audio formats include WMA, AAC and MP3, with the integrated image viewer capable of handling JPEG files. Video formats include AVC (H.264/AVC) baseline profile and MPEG4. You can download movie trailers in .movie format and convert them for use with the Walkman video players. As can be expected, Sony Pictures Entertainment has also provided video content for both the players.

Store up to 5,050 Songs or up to 30H 40M of video on your Walkman video MP3 Player and never be without your entertainment again. Easily view your movies, photos and music information on the high quality, 320x240 displays. Supports playback of MP3 and WMA DRM and non-DRM audio files downloaded from multiple sources. Also supports non-DRM AAC content, giving you multiple options for downloading music the way you want. Shuffle play among songs from a randomly selected year. Use the first letter of the song, album or artist to easily find the music you are looking for.

Two things set this player apart from the pack: Sony's EX series in-ear headphones and the excellent battery life (an impressive 8 hours for video and 33 hours for audio). The silicone-tipped headphones are far superior to regular ear buds, though we're not thrilled about the asymmetrical two-piece cable design.
