• The GBC Surebind System 3pro is a heavy duty electric strip binding machine.
• This machine uses ten pin GBC Surebind Binding strips
• Provides a secure bind that is tamper proof. This is preferred by lawyers, government agencies and for use with sensitive proposals.
• Similar to GBC Velobind but uses a different type of strip.

Features / Strengths:

• Will bind documents up to 3" thick. This is one of the only binding systems that can handle documents this thick.
• Provides a highly secure bind. If you want to add or remove pages you need to cut the strip of the document using a debinding tool and then rebind it. The Surebind System 3 includes a debinder tool.
• Uses foot pedal operation for punching. This allows you to hold your documents with both hands. Also offers a button for users who don't like the foot pedal or for occasional use.
• Includes an electric punch that is ideal for moderate use. Punch is rated to 22 sheets per lift. Realistically more like 20 sheets.
• You can use the Surebind system with documents that have been punched for Comb Binding. This gives you an option for rebinding your books and reports with a higher end look and feel.

Limitations / Weaknesses:

• The strips are harder to find for the Surebind system than for many other binding systems.
• You can only use genuine GBC Ten pin strips with this system. There are no generic alternatives. There are also limitations to the sizes and colors that the strips are available in. Strips are available in Black for 1", 2" and 3" books. and in White and Navy for 1" books. Strips are also available for 8.5" (landscape or half letter size) binding. In theory the machine is capable of legal sized binding but strips are not currently available.
• Won't bind custom lengths.

Construction:

• Heavy duty plastic case. This machine is large and is not portable. It weighs almost 100lbs.
• Convenient design with the punching unit on the bottom and the binding unit stacked on top.
• The hot knife unit can eventually need replacement on these machines. Parts are readily available.

Recommendation:

• Ideal for users looking to bind documents larger than 2" thick.
• Great for applications where security is important. Documents bound with surebind are tamper resistant and difficult to copy since they don't open flat.
• Highly professional look and feel for reports.
• Great for giving comb bound reports a new look and feel.
• Not great for organizations looking for a lot of color options or to bind documents in different lengths.
