Toronto Personals and the social stigma of loneliness |

Why is it that people are afraid to admit to need? Everyone had, at some point, found themselves in the situation of being alone in a crowd. This is a more common feeling than a lot of people realize, and the truth of the matter is that, in any crowd, there are probably just as many people who feel alone as there are those who feel otherwise. What is it that prevents these people from simply talking to each other, and together defeating that painful sensation of being alone in the world? They fear the social stigma of loneliness. It's a simple thing, really. If you are alone, it means that you have no friends. If you have no friends there must be something about you that prevents you from having them, and therefore you aren't worth talking to. Loneliness begets itself in a vicious positive feedback loop. This is the reason that Toronto personals exists. Toronto personals will not solve all your problems. Don't get it into your head that this is some sort of magical panacea which will whisk you away into a world of tanned flesh and never-ending parties. It is not. What it is is a mechanism by which you can overcome the inertia of solitude. In a city with an ever changing population, there are always new people, and so it is a virtual certainty that there will always be great numbers of new people. New people are, through no fault of their own, disconnected from the social life of the city, and because they are afraid to admit their friendless state, they are likely to stay that way.
