Marriage is the most important day, in the life of every girl. The girl from her childhood, look forward for her D- Day in life. It is the day which is a mixture of emotions, nervousness, excitement, happiness, sadness; all can be felt on this day. Though, brides all over the world are very conscious about her marriage and wait for it eagerly, but in case Indian brides, a lot additional feelings are attached with the mere word marriage. This is also because of the traditional and cultural values attached with the Indian marriages.

The enthusiasm and the fun factor attached with the Indian marriages also adds on to the matrimony feelings of the Indian brides. The brides in India are more or less connected with the emotional aspect of their marriage, the mere thought of getting departed from their parents and family makes them shed loads of tears. The connection and the bonding which Indian brides share with their maternal family, is very rarely seen in other parts of the world. In other countries, the girls are much more independent both in their style of living and also practise quite a liberal view point for running their life.

Many Indian brides, before their marriage also observes fasts, to pray for a good husband, many girls also fast on karwachauths, before marriage. This is something which is neither believed nor practised in the foreign countries, there brides do not follow the culture of fasting for their husband's long age, and they believe all these rituals as part of superstition, whereas Indians show firm believe in fasting.

Also, rituals like Mehandi, Chooda ceremony, haldi, are among the few, which are only followed in India, and Indian brides form an important part of these practices. Also, these are the ceremonies, about which the Indian brides are proud of. These ceremonies also in a way are the limelight of the matrimony, thereby making the Indian bride the centre of attraction for the marriage.

The wedding dress is a part which makes the Indian bride look different from brides in other parts of the world, even dresses and dress- up of the bride would differ even if you look at different regions and religions in India itself. Dresses like lehnga choli, saree, suits make Indian brides look different from each other. Same is the case with bridal make- up, brides are made to wear make ups according to their respective cultures and rituals. Indian brides are said to look very auspicious on their wedding day, which is also the dream of every girl to look at her best on her wedding day. Red is the colour which is very much significant and is widely used in the wedding dress as well as the make- up for the Indian brides.

The brides in India, due to the grandness of the matrimony function and the rituals practised, are made to follow many customs, each of which have their individual significance and role to help the Indian bride lead a happy married life. The preparations for the marriage start days before the actual marriage; this may include fixing the venues for different functions, shopping for the bride as well as the groom and for their respective family members. In fact the shopping for the marriage in case of Indian brides, starts from the day a girl takes birth, Indian have this belief of gifting a lot of gold and assets to their daughter at her marriage, which would help her in living her future life happily.

Thus we can say that Indian brides have got this very special gift, of being born as an Indian as they get to enjoy all these rituals and ceremonies, which make their marriage day so memorable and full of fun and enjoyment.
