THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD. PART 2

God Is Love.

Many unbelievers prefer to dwell on the characteristics of love, though for the most part they have little knowledge of God. They believe only a part of Jn. 3:16, "For God so Loved the world," to excuse themselves, in the hope of covering up their worldliness instead of just facing up to their sin.

They do not consider the next part, "Whosoever believeth in Him will not perish". To believe means that we must Obey, Adhere to His Word in its entirety. So many can't accept the fact that a God of Love will one day cast His creatures into eternal damnation. Therefore because of His great love, God gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to be crucified on a cross.

1 Jn.4:7-10 says, "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins".

Coupled with these profound truths, is the claim made by the Lord Jesus Himself when He stated in Jn.14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the father, but by me" We need to note also what Peter recorded in his letter (11Peter3:9) "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understands slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance"

In God's economy there is no place for ignorance, neglect, indifference or even procrastination as God deals with mankind through love. We must meet God's requirements or suffer the consequences!

It is important to note that God's complete character, made up of many attributes, cannot be compromised in any way; for example His perfect love must be balanced with His perfect justice, righteousness and so forth. Diligent study of the Holy Bible will reveal to mankind the great cost to bring so great salvation to us. "How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation" (Heb.2:3)
