THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
1. God is Absolute

As created beings, we can only base our beliefs in God upon His personal revelation.

The Bible, God's Word, state that "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament showeth His handiwork"(Ps.19:1). We begin by observing our surroundings. An intelligent person cannot deny the existence of a creative being for there is no other plausible explanation for such a wonderful systematic universe. (Gen.1:1).(Ps.53:1b)

The worship of our creator begins in the physical realm with the acknowledgement that there is someone-a Creator-that transcends what we can see with our physical eye.

We are told by the One who took upon Himself human flesh, who is very God, that "God is Spirit; and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth" (Jn.4:24).

In order to worship God in spirit we must be spiritually alive! It is here that human beings differ from animals; for we are a special creation. We were not created in the same manner as the animals, birds, fish and other creeping things, but "God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Gen.2:7). (Gen.1:26)

Since God is Spirit, and we were made in the image of God, God has designed direct communication with human beings which is not possible with animals. However, since Adam sinned and died spiritually, thereby passing on spiritual death to the entire human race, our communication with God can only take place through the regenerative work of God the Holy Spirit which is why God said, "we must be born again," referring to being born of God the Holy Spirit. (Jn.3:3).

The natural man is a pragmatist; he looks at life as temporal and changeable. But there is more than meets the eye. As we behold the skies, we observe a regular pattern of day and night, and the orderly behavior of the stars, the moon, and the sun. We become aware of a wonderful systematic creation. The seaman who sails the vast ocean is never without his compass. He checks it for accuracy by the positions of the heavenly lights. The natural man can only face his daily experiences with human viewpoint, continually adjusting his actions to suit the changing circumstances; but the one who has put his trust in the almighty God, the Creator, who is the same yesterday, today and forever, stands firmly upon the Word of God whose author is Absolute!
