Home improvement loans on the rise

Homeowners have been getting the short end of the stick recently with all the rises in living costs. It seems as if you're being punished with gas and electricity forcing you to use less electricity and hot water to rises in the food costs also relieving you of your hard earned money.

Once you leave the house you're then faced with paying more for petrol and potentially a massive extra expense on taxation if your car is in a particular category.

It isn't really much fun for those trying to sell up and move on either, house prices have started falling at precisely the wrong time for some house sellers and they have been forced into trying to combat this drop by doing a bit of home improvement

This has been deduced because the number of home improvement loans has gone up by 20% so that they can increase their home's value in the face of falling prices. At the same time 58% of people looking to sell their home are holding off on putting their house on the market until the prices rise again and have decided in the meanwhile to take out loans to make some alterations and improvements to their house.

Obviously these loans are personal loans since the number of personal loan applications has increased by 19% compared to this time last year over the first six months of the year. It is a bit of a shock for homeowners that they have to do this since for the past few years they have been able to just sit back and watch the value of their home rise.

Now that the prices have started to free fall they are having to make improvements to the their home just to make sure they get back what they have put in with regards to buying the house and mortgages. These unsecured loans seem like the best option as they are being told if you want to trade up then you need to increase the value of your home unless you want to pay an increased amount on mortgages in the new home.
