These days most of the people are quite conscious about their future and that is also the wisest thing to do as you can never be sure when you or any one of your family member is gong to need medical aid. And therefore it is better that you take needful steps in time so that when you are in an emergency you may not be in any sort of problem. And for this reason there are the Medicare plans so that if there is any medical emergency in your life then you may not need to be worried about it anyway. No man can guarantee that he or she can never fall ill or would not face any serious medical problem. As you need for medical aid is uncertain therefore it is always a wise decision to stay secured for those medical costs. But the fact is that the Original Medicare plans do not cover all the medical costs that you may need. Thus there always remains a gap in between the Original Medicare policy coverage and the actual bills you need to pay. Therefore, to bridge this gap between the Medicare policy coverage and the actual medical bill payable there are the Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans, in other terms the Medigap plans. These Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans are supplementary insurance policies which help a lot to cover up this gap and therefore provide you a better chance to clear you medical charges. These Medigap Health Insurance Plans are sold and administered by the private health insurance companies only. Till the last year, 2009 there were only twelve Medigap Health Insurance Plans to be sold by the private health insurance companies. These plans were labeled under the letter head A through L. But in this year i.e. 2010 two new plans M and N are to be introduced. These two plans offer better benefits in the form of cost sharing and deductibles. However, when you are already under the Original Medicare plans then the wisest thing to do is to have some Medigap Health Insurance Plans side by side. But in this context there is a very special thing to mention. These Medigap Health Insurance Plans are only compatible with the Original Medicare only and therefore if you switch over to any other medical insurance plans or even Medicare Advantage Plan you can no more use the Medigap Plans along with these policies. In that case you cannot even purchase the Medicare Supplement pans and if you are already a beneficiary of the Medicare supplement plans then you cannot use them unless you switch back to the Original Medicare Plans. To choose the Medigap Health Insurance Plans is not an easy task. It needs through study to select the perfect plan for yourself. In that case the best thing you can do is to seek the help of some insurance agent so that he can give you the proper advice of which plan to choose. There are several plans which although seem to be less beneficial apparently but in reality these plans offer a better return in the form of cost sharing and deductibles.
