Every family should necessarily have a monthly budget to control the family's finances. A cash flow plan helps to keep track of the money flow for a certain period of time, recording where the money comes from and what it is ultimately spent on. Many families face financial troubles today because of their free spending habits and lack of the motivation or effort to plan for monthly expenses. A well made budget can be used to control spending habits. Therefore, it should be utilized as a tool that is collectively used by all in the family. All the family members, except the children, should sit together to analyze the collective goals of the entire family. It may include points like savings fund for a new home, savings fund for children's college fund, building a retirement savings, or it could even be building of emergency savings fund. This way, the family works towards creating a common budget to protect them from financial emergencies.
