Despite the fact that we are aware that a police vehicle is flashing its lights to warn people and not to entertain them, we never fail to notice how closely these warning lights approximate the lights that are used to entertain. It is no wonder then that a car strobe is the common denominator in both. It is used to warn as well as to entertain.
A car strobe could be used as a very small light mounted on a visor or windshield or could be used on larger trucks or other emergency vehicles for high visibility. A strobe light mounted on a visor could measure as small as 10cms on one side while larger ones could span the entire width of the truck and could rotate a full 360o as well. Strobe lights are used in various industrial applications besides being used in emergency vehicles and entertainment venues. For industrial uses a strobe light is sometimes calibrated to flash hundred times or more per second but a car strobe, for whatever purpose it is used, is not calibrated for such intense flashing. It is patterned to flash to a maximum of 10 times per second. Too frequent flashing could result in photosensitive epileptic reactions in some people and since lots of people could be exposed to show cars and emergency vehicles, higher flashing rates are not allowed on a car strobe. A car strobe kit, which can be instantly plugged in, is a handy accessory in personal vehicles as well as law enforcement vehicles. Even in non-emergency vehicles it can be used as a brake light or sometimes as a running light. High intensity plug and play xenon strobe lights of 90 watts strength, suitable for SUVs and trucks are commercially available for use. The units have a customizable switch that can be mounted anywhere inside the vehicle. For show and decoration purposes also a car strobe does a fine job. A decorated car used for weddings or other celebratory occasions can have the strobe lights incorporated in such a manner that it can easily switch modes to function as a normal light and then back to flashing lights as required. A car strobe control box is quite user friendly and allows the user full control for changing modes and creating new flash patterns. Show cars use many color filters in their car strobe. The common emergency vehicle colors of red, blue, amber, and white will be available for all types of strobes. Show cars generally have yellow and purple and green in addition to it. A show car strobe will have exchangeable color filters, making it easy for the operators to mix and change colors. The strobe will be designed to be fitted into headlight, or bumper light, or corner light, or any chosen light of the vehicle. A car strobe in a show car may be patterned to flash both at the front and the back, or above and below the vehicle. Rainbow strobe filters, which can be incorporated into the headlight, are available for use in halogen bulbs. A rainbow car strobe functions by using dichroic filters, which can selectively pass certain colors of the spectrum while reflecting the others. Dichroic filters and dichroic glass are used in many theatrical applications because of its color filtering properties.
