Whether it is good for your children to play computer games or not, one thing is for sure; play them they will eventually, either at your house or at their friend's place. The modern parent usually sees no problem with their children playing computer games. There are many good games that have educational value. Games can teach kids how to do math, spell and type.
Computer games that have strong problem solving challenges are really good for children to play. While kids usually just want to have fun and feel in control, the challenges they must solve to play their favourite game are ones that can also be applied to real life. Playing these games also helps children get used to using a computer, a skill that all children need to learn to get good jobs and work in the future. Parents do need to monitor the type of computer games that their children play. Manufacturers are too eager to bring out games that are of a grossly violent nature. When children sit and watch hours of violence on television, do they really need to play an interactive game that is also violent?
