The Generation Y (people born in the mid 1970s to early 2000) and Generation Z (those born in the mid 90s to the late 2000s) people are not easy to handle nowadays. They have forgotten the value of caring for their body may it be in spiritual, mental, or physical aspect. Some of these youths become active in sex, illegal drugs, alcohol and cigarettes at such an early age, half of them have been in these vices even before they stepped into adolescent period. We cannot always look after them—what they do in school or outside with friends. But there are steps we can do to keep them away from vices. Here are tips on how to handle your Gen Y or Z child.

1. Be open with them - Whatever questions they ask, answer it with a responsible explanation. If they ask, "where do babies come from?" answer it in the clearest and most responsible manner. Kids often discover and get curious on issues like these, so be ready to quench their curiosity without exposing them to immorality.

2. Always give them straight answers and do not answer them in a childlike manner, e.g. "babies come from the stork's mouth." It will only confuse them, and get them more curious.

3. Do not try to give them toys that are violent like replica or prototype water guns. Experts say that this is the main reason why some kids are aggressive as they perceive the world as a dangerous place when they were still young.

4. If you think that your child is taking drugs, there are sites that can teach you how to make a home drug test. It is less expensive and not embarrassing on your part as a parent.

5. Home drug test kit can also help you detect if your kid is taking alcohol. But take note that you have to be prepared on the results. It's best to get help from medical experts to address your kid's addiction much easily.

6. Rage scolding is not recommended. This will only make your kid more aggressive, and find ways how to get their frustration out, such as on other kids.

7. If there is no choice but to punish them, take some precautions. Be sure not to hit them on their sensitive parts like the head, stomach and the back. The hands and the butt are the best places to spank a child.

8. When your child steps into the adolescent period, they will more likely explore the meaning of sex. Make sure that you explain to them what that is and the encompassing changes in their physical appearance.

9. Smoking can be acquired if the child sees his/her parents smoking. The child will think that it is right to smoke and copy what their parents do. Be a good role model to your child; quit your vice as soon as possible.
